How much does it cost?
A clinical massage appointment costs £48 . (First appointment is £55)*
*The initial appointment requires extra time in order to discuss any current conditions and medical history and to agree the treatment plan.
Other options - including hot stones - are currently not available due to restrictions necessary in the Coronavirus pandemic. These will be reintroduced as soon as possible.
What payment methods can I use?
Bank transfer in advance - or exact cash on the day.
Location and parking?
Based in the village of Stewkley near Leighton Buzzard – on the Beds/Bucks border.
Dedicated off-road parking.
Cancellation policy?
I ask clients to respect the effect that late cancellations and missed appointments will have on my business in terms of financial loss for me, but also other clients who are waiting for an appointment.
If less than 24 hours notice is given I will have to charge the full fee for the appointment.
Insurance and Membership of Professional Organisations?
I am a full member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and have professional insurance through the FHT. I am also on the register of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) which is set up with government funding and support. Practitioners registered with the CNHC demonstrate to the general public and to other healthcare providers that they conform to national standards of practice in their work.
I am listed on the FHT Complementary Healthcare Therapist Register, which has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) under its Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) Scheme. The AVR quality mark gives extra peace of mind for anyone looking for a complementary healthcare therapist, letting them know that anyone who holds the mark is committed to high standards.
What should I expect in a treatment?
At the beginning of the first appointment I will take a comprehensive medical and case history and then will base the treatment on what is discussed. Client confidentiality is always respected. After the consultation I will leave you to undress down to your underwear and to get on to the treatment couch under towels. Privacy is respected at all times and towels are used throughout the treatment to only expose the part of the body being worked on at the time.
If unable to get on to the couch, or if more comfortable, neck, shoulders, head and arms may be massaged while seated.
How many treatments might I need?
This will depend on the condition(s) being dealt with. For those with a chronic pain condition I will usually aim to see a reduction in pain and/or improvement in flexibility within 1-6 weekly treatments. I will recommend a suggested treatment programme at the end of the first appointment.
After the initial treatment programme most clients choose to book a regular maintenance massage every 4-6 weeks or whenever suits them.
What conditions can benefit from massage?
Massage therapy is traditionally recognised as being an effective treatment for many aches and pains and to aid relaxation, but there are many conditions which can be helped by massage treatment such as:
